ETHNIC DANCES


AFRICAN DANCE

With live drumming! African dance basics will be covered in a fun, high-energy workout that strengthens and releases the whole body, mind and spirit.

Participants will learn the dance vocabulary and basic steps, as well as traditional dances from Mali, Guinea, Senegal and Afro-Caribbean dances from Haiti.

The emphasis is on healing, self-expression and feeling the joy of movement.

FLAMENCO DANCE

Flamenco is a passionate dance form with a rich cultural backround. Many professional ballet schools have recognized the importance of the technique for upper body strength and expressiveness.

Saturday May 31st, 3:30 to 5:30pm

Sunday June 1st, 1 to 3pm

Register early by caliing the studio at 508-564-6165. $28 per session, $50 for both.

Kati Garcia-Renart is a native of New York. She received a BA in dance from Bard College and began her studies of Flamenco under Aileen Pasloff. She spent 10 years studying, teaching, and performing in Madrid, Spain where she studied with Mercedes and Albano, Mercedes Leon, and La Cintia. She has taught extensively on both coasts.
