SUMMER CHOREOGRAPHY PROJECT 2010

The Choreography Project is a collaborative effort by a group of professional and semi-professional dancers, produced by D.I.R.T.T Productions (Dance Integrated with Real-Time Technology) in cooperation with the Cape Cod Dance Center and Studio 878, which will both be hosting the event.  This year's performances will be held in Cataumet at CCDC on Friday, August 20th at 7 PM and in Chatham at Studio 878 on Saturday, August 21st at 7 PM. Performances are open to the public, no reservations required. A donation on a sliding scale is suggested.

This community-based, professional event is designed to give the audience a more interactive experience by inviting audience members to share critical comments and personal perspectives with the dancers and choreographers after the show. The performance incorporates a variety of dance styles, such as jazz, modern, contemporary dance, neoclassical, Butoh and more.
The project was designed to provide dancers who summer on the Cape an opportunity to stay engaged in their art and connect with other dancers.  Among the participants in this year’s project is Eveline Carle, who currently owns and operates the Cape Cod Dance Center.  Eveline has been coordinating the project since 2007 with colleague and friend Antonia Stephens, co-director of the Chatham-based TIDES Dance Company, who will also be creating work for the performance. The concert will also showcase creative work by choreographers Leda Muhana (Brazil), Jennifer Hicks (Boston/Chatham), JC Stahl (Yarmouth), Chris Phillips (Chatham); Meghan Carmichael (Sandwich) and many more.
If you would like to be part of the project send us a message or an email. As you all know, it is a great opportunity to workshop new pieces, works-in-progress, improvisations, collaborations or fresh revisions on older work.  Little fragments may be paired in interesting ways with other people's work, so that even someone who has only the bright spark of a new idea can share it with others.

Three meetings will be set up during the summer to take advantage of your peers' critiques and ideas. If you are unable to take part in those meetings, we strongly recommend that you organize your own showing times with dancers and friends. This is the time to experiment. Be bold. Have fun. Challenge yourself. We look forward to seeing all of you.
